As someone with chronic pancreatitis, I can tolerate a small spoonful of regular peanut butter at the end of a low-fat meal. One day, I decided to see if there were any substitutes out there and came across this product. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's good stuff.Let me preface this by saying that I will buy more as soon as I run out. This reminds me of a line in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where something is described as "almost, but not completely unlike tea". This is not going to fool anyone, but peanut butter is the closest comparison. It's more of a thick syrup than a butter consistency. Despite being so tacky, it's hard to get it to stick to bread. I wipe a spoon or knife full of this syrup against bread and come back with bits of the bread torn off and stuck to the utensil. It also overflows around the edges of a bread slice like honey and makes a mess.They had to remove the fat somehow and went with a low calorie syrup that has peanut powder mixed in. The chocolate flavor also has cocoa powder mixed in and the banana has banana puree. I could easily see making some sort of pastry with the chocolate flavor. It's a bit messy to eat, so it might work better as a filling. The regular and banana flavors make very good sandwiches. Despite the cons that I mentioned, this product is worth it for anyone who has to watch fat intake for medical reasons. All 3 flavors are better than expected and I knew before buying that the texture had to be different if they removed 85% of the fat. The product is honest about what it is so it gets 5 stars.
