Product Description

Everyone at Pritchett High wants an invitation to the Senior Scavenge. In 2020, Violet Warren and her friends are the lucky ones. Eight girls will break into the Poison Apple Carnival after hours for a scavenger hunt, then at sunrise they’ll gather for a celebration in honor of their upcoming senior year. But someone else has another game planned. Minutes after the girls sneak into the carnival, a madman in a rubber mask begins slashing his way through the group and Violet quickly realizes his motives are personal. As she watches her friends die in a series of increasingly bizarre attacks, she must fight to survive while trying to answer the question: What could she have done to earn a fast-pass for a roller coaster ride straight to hell?

I honestly went into this thinking it was going to be 3 stars cause of how slow the beginning was. I honestly just wanted to get into the action after 5-10% of the book finished. It picked up around 30% when the group of girls go on this “senior scavenge” and it wound up being a scavenge for their lives. I honestly didn’t think it’d be as brutal as it was and I’m good with gore as a horror fan(sometimes it does get to me depending on the context). The reveal of the killer was expected, however, I did think it was someone else cause we haven’t heard her name come up in a long time. The ending was fine but I think maybe the 2nd book would give us closure if the killer is caught?I think it’s a good campy slasher book if you like cheesy horror movies then this will be for you. I wouldn’t think too deep in this especially cause some of it was lacking(the slow start, the not so shocking killer reveal and the motives behind the killings). It’s not a bad horror book and it is nice to read if you’re a horror fan and you want something easy going.
